Wooden desks from a Polish office furniture manufacturer
Deerhorn is an office furniture manufacturer, and every wooden desk in this category has a solid oak top, not veneered chipboard. We combine the wood with a black or white steel frame, and the whole desk is made in our own factory in Poland. Since 2019 Deerhorn furniture has reached more than 30,000 customers, in 2025 alone more than 7,000 companies: law firms, clinics, banks, universities and IT start-ups. Every desk comes with a 25-year warranty and post-warranty service.
A desk with a wooden top is a purchase for years. Oak is warm to the touch and after a decade of work looks better than chipboard, not worse. In this category we have gathered straight and corner oak desks, desks with drawers and with a pedestal, as well as wooden height-adjustable desks with electric height adjustment. Delivery takes up to 5 working days.
Solid seasoned oak instead of veneer – what difference does it make at work?
Seasoning is the conditioning of the wood before machining, which keeps the top stable so that it does not move once it is placed in a heated office. We finish the surface with oil, which brings out the grain and leaves the wood open. This has a practical meaning: a scratch, a mug ring or a dent can be sanded locally and re-oiled instead of replacing the whole top. Veneered chipboard will not survive such a repair, because under the thin layer of decor there is particleboard.
That is why we can give a 25-year warranty on wooden desks. The solid oak top is the only part of the desk you touch all day, and the only one that can be restored to as-new condition after years.
How to choose a wooden desk for the office?
Start with the size of the top, then choose the shape, colour and extras. Standard tops are 120×70, 140×70, 160×70, 180×70 and 200×70 cm, and in the deeper version 160×80, 180×80 and 200×80 cm. A 140×70 cm top is enough for a laptop with a monitor, 160×70 cm is the most common choice for a workstation with two monitors, and 180 and 200 cm work well in private offices and wherever documents lie on the desk. The top is 38 mm thick in the Loft office, Loft office plus, Modern office and Active collections, while in Loft office slim it is thinner and visually lighter. The desk is 75 cm high, leaving 69–71 cm under the top for legs, a pedestal and a chair with armrests.
Shape. A straight desk takes up the least space against a wall. A wooden corner desk gives you a second top for documents or a second monitor and is available in left- and right-hand versions. The full list of large tops can be found in the large desk category.
Colour. A top in natural oak or dark, a black or white frame. A black frame with light oak is a loft-style classic, while a white desk with a wooden top brightens up smaller rooms and private offices.
Storage. A wooden desk with drawers has drawers built in under the top, while a desk with a pedestal comes with a separate cabinet on castors that can be moved or bought later. A modesty panel, i.e. a screen under the top, hides legs and cables from the visitor’s side – you choose it on the product page.
Height adjustment. If you work at the desk both sitting and standing, choose a wooden height-adjustable desk from the Pro or Simple series. They have the same oak top on a frame with an electric drive, memory settings and an anti-collision system. A comparison of the series is in the height-adjustable desks category.
Desk with a wooden top in loft style – Deerhorn collections
Deerhorn production started with the Loft office desk, and to this day it is the most popular model: an oak top on a simple steel frame, with nothing superfluous. Loft office plus adds drawers and a pedestal, Loft office slim has a thinner top and a lighter silhouette for smaller rooms. The Modern office and Active collections combine a wooden top with screens under the top for open-space workstations and private offices, and Pure Office is a designer desk with a computer shelf under the top. You can read more about wooden desks on metal frames on the industrial-style desks page.
Every desk in this category can be combined with a sideboard, a shelving unit and a cabinet from the same collection, so the whole office has the same oak and the same steel colour.
How to care for a wooden desk top?
We do not lacquer the top; we finish it with oil and wax, so wiping it with a damp cloth is enough for everyday care. The hardwax oil is refreshed every few years, only where the top is used intensively: the surface is rubbed down with fine sandpaper (220, then 400), a thin layer of hardwax oil is applied, after an hour the excess is wiped off with a paper towel and the top is left to dry for 8–10 hours. A hot mug mark or a scratch is removed the same way, only locally.
Made-to-measure wooden desks and 3D files for designers
We quote non-standard sizes, a cut-out for a column or an L-shaped top individually – see made-to-measure desks. You can order the solid oak top alone, without a frame, on the wooden desk tops page. We provide architects and design studios with 3D models of the desks in FBX, 3DS and OBJ formats.
Frequently asked questions about wooden desks
How does a wooden desk differ from a chipboard desk?
A solid oak top is uniform throughout its thickness, so it can be sanded and oiled for years. Chipboard has a thin veneer on particleboard: damaged edges and dents are permanent. Oak is also warmer to the touch and heavier, which makes the desk more stable. If wood is not needed, the range includes desks with Polish-made furniture board on the same frame.
Doesn’t a solid oak top warp in a heated office?
No, provided the wood has been seasoned beforehand, which is what we do at Deerhorn. Seasoning before machining stabilises the top, and the oil protects it from changes in humidity. That is why the warranty covers the whole desk for 25 years.
How thick is a wooden desk top?
38 mm in the Loft office, Loft office plus, Modern office and Active collections. The Loft office slim collection has a thinner top, and Pro height-adjustable desks are available with an 18 or 38 mm top. The top is glued from oak lamellas 20–25 mm wide; the thickness and dimensions are given for each product.
Are there wooden desks with drawers or a pedestal?
Yes. Drawers are built in under the top in the Loft office plus collection, and a mobile pedestal can be added to any desk and moved when the room layout changes.
Can a wooden desk be height-adjustable?
Yes. The Pro and Simple series combine the same solid oak top with an electric frame with memory settings. Pro has a 120 kg load capacity, a 60–124 cm range and arrives fully assembled, Simple 70 kg and 73.5–118 cm. All models are in the wooden height-adjustable desks subcategory.
How does a wooden desk arrive and how long does delivery take?
We deliver the desks in this category fully assembled, ready to put in place, within 5 working days. As standard, the courier leaves the pallet outside the building; carrying in and unpacking are available at extra cost. The exception is Simple height-adjustable desks, which arrive in parts for assembly.
How much does a solid oak wooden desk cost?
Prices are shown on the products and depend on the top size, collection and extras: drawers, pedestal, modesty panel. Our customer service team will prepare a quote for a made-to-measure desk or a larger number of workstations – message us on WhatsApp or call: +48 533 341 640.
