We built a large reception desk for a pediatric practice in Bochum, Germany, which was placed in the main patient service area. The facility provides medical care for children and adolescents, so it needed a comfortable workstation for staff that would also look good from the waiting room.
The project was based on a reception desk from our standard lineup, but we modified its appearance to suit the needs of this interior. The most significant change was the use of wooden slats across the entire front of the desk, making the wood the focal point of the piece.

A large reception desk with wooden slats for a pediatric practice
We designed a large corner reception desk for the office in Bochum. Its most striking feature is the front, which is finished with horizontal wooden slats.
In the standard model, part of the front remains smooth, but in this case, the client opted for a modification— we used slats across the entire exterior of the counter. We paired the wood with a dark panel, which makes the counter stand out nicely in the bright interior of the reception area.
Standard Deerhorn counter, custom version
This project demonstrates that we can customize a piece of furniture from our standard lineup to meet a customer’s expectations. In this case, we retained the model’s structure and functionality while changing the finish of the front.

Reception desk for a doctor’s office in Bochum
The finished counter provides staff with ample space for their daily work and for assisting patients, while the corner design allows for a convenient layout of the reception area. From the waiting room side, the natural wood catches the eye, adding warmth to the interior and complementing its light color scheme.
