Desk comparison – which office desk to choose in 2025?

Desk, it’s a tool for work, and it’s up to us to decide how this basic piece of furniture will affect the efficiency and quality of our activities. I present a comparison of the top companies in the office furniture category and their bestsellers. I objectively point out the differences in design, materials or price. The lead time and the materials used are also not without significance. I invite you to the comparison 😉

1. deerhorn

The Loft Office Plus desk from DEERHORN is for those who like raw elegance and order. Minimalist form, steel frame and drawers that really come in handy – the whole thing looks good and works even better. Just right for interiors with character.

2. ikea

IKEA Lagkapten / Alex is a budget desk that, despite its simplicity, is very popular. The Alex dresser variant offers up to 10 capacious drawers, making it perfect for small spaces and home offices. Easy to access, easy to assemble – a classic among furniture from IKEA.

3. MDD

MDD Mito height-adjustable desk is an option for demanding users. The desk is distinguished by its modern design, high quality workmanship and electric height adjustment, which allows for a comfortable transition from sitting to standing work. Ideal for management offices and spaces where function meets prestige.

4 JYSK

The LIMFJORDEN desk from Jysk is a modern piece of furniture ideal for work and study. Equipped with four capacious drawers, it offers plenty of space for documents, accessories and everyday trinkets. The simple, minimalist form makes it fit perfectly into a variety of interior styles.

5 VITRA

VITRA’s EDU EAMES DESK UNIT is a classic piece of furniture with a distinct retro style, designed for aesthetics, not ergonomics. While it is eye-catching and looks good in creative spaces, its high price and limited functionality make it not a typically practical choice for everyday office work.

SUMMARY

Let’s start with the DEERHORN Loft Office Plus. This is a proposal for those who appreciate solidity and character. The combination of an oak top with steel construction exudes an industrial style that fits perfectly in modern offices, but also home offices with a clawfooted look. Three drawers offer a reasonable amount of storage space, and the stated lead time (3-5 business days) suggests efficient service. The price, starting at PLN 3865, places it in the premium segment, but for many it may be an investment in durability and unique design. It’s worth noting the available configurations and colors, which allow you to tailor the desk to your individual preferences.

IKEA Lagkapten/Alex is a completely different price and style shelf. For less than £900 you get a practical solution with as many as ten drawers. Cellular board as a tabletop material may not be as impressive as oak, but in terms of functionality and price it is a reasonable compromise. “Off-the-shelf” availability is a huge plus for those who need a desk immediately. This is an ideal option for a home office, where tidiness and convenience are most important.

Moving on to the luxury segment, we have the MDD Mito with height adjustment. The price starting at more than PLN 20,000 speaks for itself. This is a study desk created with the most demanding users in mind. Electric height adjustment is not only a convenience, but also takes care of the health of the spine, allowing you to work both sitting and standing. Melamine board in this case is a guarantee of elegance and durability, although the lead time (10-12 working days) is longer. A single drawer may seem modest, but this type of desk often relies on minimalist design and additional surrounding storage systems.

JYSK LIMFJORDEN is a proposal from the middle price range, oscillating around PLN 600. White color and four drawers is a classic combination that will work well in many modern interiors. The melamine board is easy to keep clean, and off-the-shelf availability is another advantage. This desk combines simple design with practical storage, being an attractive option for those looking for functionality without overtaxing the budget.

Finally, we have the VITRA company. The Eames Desk Unit (EDU) is a distinctly design-oriented product with aesthetics reminiscent of the 1950s. While it is eye-catching and can serve a decorative function, its utility values are limited, especially in terms of the ergonomics required in modern offices. The materials used – powder-coated steel and laminated panels – are solid, but do not fully justify the high price, which in Poland exceeds PLN 7,000. This makes the purchase of this model difficult to consider profitable from the point of view of functionality. The long lead time (6-8 weeks) can also be discouraging. The desk will work best in spaces where design and brand character are more important than everyday practicality.

All in all, 2025 brings diversity to the desk market. There is something for everyone, regardless of preferred style, budget or functional needs. From the industrial charm of DEERHORN, to the practicality of IKEA and JYSK, to the luxury and ergonomics of MDD and the extra space of VITRA, the choice is yours.
